With just a few weeks to go, creatives from across the Buloke Shire are being encouraged to enter their work into the 2018 Wycheproof Races, Art & Craft Exhibition.

The curtain opener for the iconic Mt Wycheproof Cup weekend, the exhibition is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate local talent.

Wycheproof Shire Hall will be abuzz again on November 1 for Opening Night.

Wycheproof Shire Hall will be abuzz again on November 1 for Opening Night.

Categories include Open, Primary, Secondary, Recycled, Fashion and, for the first time, Photography. Entries for each category should reflect the theme for 2018 – ‘Spirit of the Country’.

“We encourage everyone to interpret the theme in their own way, but we see this as an opportunity for locals to reflect on what country life means to them,” Wycheproof Community Resource Centre (WCRC) manager Averyll Loft said.

“It’s also a nod to the farming community, who will have to overcome significant challenges this year due to drought conditions. That takes a great deal of spirit.”

Entries are to be submitted to WCRC on Friday, October 26 ahead of exhibition opening night at the Wycheproof Shire Hall on Thursday, November 1. Entry is free and entry forms are available from WCRC.

Opening night is set to be just as vibrant as the last, with live music, fashion parade, a special guest, pop-up shops, drinks, nibbles and the announcement of category winners.

In the meantime, there are a number of creative workshops being run by Kerang artist Paul Oswin in the lead up to the exhibition. Tickets are available from the bookings section of the WCRC website.
