Cathie Hobbs, Penelope Grant, Kath Downes and Yvonne Keane prepare to tackle Mt Wycheproof.
The pink army was out in full force to raise awareness and money for an amazing cause on Sunday, May 13 at the 2018 Mt Wycheproof Mother's Day Classic.
Held on Mother's Day for the past three years, the Classic raises money for breast cancer, a disease that affects more than 18,000 women and men and their families each year.
The Classic is also a chance for locals to come together to pay tribute to their mums, to remember a loved one who has passed away from breast cancer or to offer their support to those who are currently undergoing treatment.
"I'm walking for my mum, even though she didn't pass away from breast cancer, she was still beautiful and amazing," local Michelle Turner said.
"I'm here for my mum, who passed away from breast cancer, and my Aunty who was also affected," Wycheproofian Penelope Grant said.
The event was split into a 10km and 5km run, and a 10km, 5km and 1km walk, making it enjoyable for runners and casual walkers alike – especially given the picturesque Autumn weather.
Wycheproof fitness trainer Gill Fawcett led the participants in a fun and energetic warm up before they set off on their run/walk.

The male and female winners of the 10km run were Joe Coles and Keely Allan while the winners of the 5km run were James Ison and Mackenzie Humphries.
The best dressed team went to Team Wolfe of Charlton, as did the inaugural Mt Wycheproof Mother’s Day Classic Perpetual Cup.
The Cup will be up for grabs again in 2019 to the biggest participating team, although Team Wolfe have vowed to return with even more troops to defend their title.
There were 92 Mother’s Day Classic events across Australia on Sunday. Since 1998, the event has raised more than $35 million and funded more than 43 breast cancer research projects.
Thank you to the staff and volunteers of Wycheproof Community Resource Centre for all your hard work in putting this day together, as well as the local sponsors of the event.
There is still time to donate to this great cause, with fundraising closing on June 30.
