Whether it is photocopying, licence renewals or help with a grant application, Wycheproof Community Resource Centre is well known by locals as the “go-to” place for just about everything.
As of July, the community will be able to access yet another fantastic service at the Resource Centre: the Wycheproof branch of the Buloke Library Service.
Manager Averyll Loft said the Resource Centre committee and staff are delighted to partner with Buloke Shire Council to deliver the library service each Monday and Thursday from 10am – 2pm.
Wycheproof’s Christopher Gillis has joined the team to oversee the Wycheproof branch.
Ms Loft said the library will initially be located within the existing building at 280 Broadway, however, plans for a building extension in the space between the Resource Centre and Marlbro House are underway.
“We have been working closely with the Buloke Shire and the Buloke Library Advisory Committee over the past 12 months to identify and address local matters ahead of the rolling out this service across the Buloke Shire,” she said.
“They have put a huge amount of work in to ensure this service is just what local library users want and need. This library service is a huge boon for each community in the Shire and we look forward to being a part of that.”
Other branches in Buloke include Birchip P-12, Culgoa General Store, Berriwillock Community Centre, Tyrrell College Sea Lake, Nullawil Maternal Child Health Building, Watchem Community Hub and Donald Hub.
“Council is really looking forward delivering our own library service from July and partnering with the Wycheproof Resource Centre to provide the district’s library users with an excellent experience,” Mayor David Pollard said.
“The aim of Council and the Buloke Library Advisory Committee is to ensure our readers have an opportunity to not only access their material of choice but to also be able to have a social connection when checking out their favourite titles.”
