Have you considered becoming a Pool Lifeguard?
With swimming pools set to open on Saturday 14 November 2020 now is a great time to be looking for a little extra employment.
The Pool Lifeguard Skill Set (SISSS00111) is an entry-level professional qualification that can lead to an exciting career in the aquatic and recreation industry.
Mallee Sports Assembly and Wycheproof Community Resource Centre are working in partnership, with great support from the Buloke Shire Council to attract more people, especially older adults (65 + years) to include regular physical activity (PA) into their lifestyles.
Water-based exercise is a fun, low impact way to become more active. However, to be able to provide aquatic PA programs we need more lifeguards!
If you are interested in attaining this qualification and are available to help ‘man’ the pool this pool season, this is a great opportunity to learn a new skill without the cost.
The requirements for people to become a lifeguard are as follows:
They need to be able to swim 200m under 6 minutes
Retrieve a brick from the bottom of a 3mtr pool - duck diving
Hold a HLTAID003 First Aid Certificate to be able to enrol for the Lifeguard Course
CPR up to date
Dedicated and responsible people who live in the Buloke Shire and will be available to work as a Lifeguard during the summer season
Candidates are to have a reasonable level of health and fitness
The training on the day also consists of:
Emergency Care,
Administer Oxygen in an emergency,
Perform basic water rescues,
Supervise patrons in aquatic locations,
Perform advanced water rescues
